M1 offers two ways to stop call recording:
You can disable it manually during a call
Or you can turn it off by default for specific contacts
This is helpful if you're handling sensitive conversations, working with clients who request not to be recorded, or receiving personal calls on your business line.
🔴 Stop recording during a live call
All calls made through M1 are automatically recorded and transcribed by default.
If you need to stop recording while on a call, follow these steps:
Locate the "recorder" icon on the left side of your call screen, and tap it.
A pop-up message will appear asking to confirm that you want to stop the recording.
Confirm by tapping the "Stop Recording" button.
ℹ️ Please Note: Once you stop recording, it can't be restarted for that same call. If you want to resume recording, you’ll need to hang up and place the call again.
👤 Disable call recording for a specific contact
If you want to automatically prevent recording for a specific person:
1. Open the conversation with that contact in the M1 app
2. Tap the Receptionist icon next to the message composer
3. Toggle off Call recording
That contact’s calls with you will no longer be recorded.

📌 Legal reminder:
Call recording laws vary by state. In some states, you're required to inform the other party before recording a call - even if you're part of the conversation.
