At the moment, setting up call forwarding from Google Voice to M1 is not fully supported due to a combination of technical limitations between the two services.
However, if you’d like to use your Google Voice number with M1, you can still do so by porting the number over. Here’s how:
Steps to port your Google Voice number to M1:
1. Unlock your Google Voice number:
Visit the Google Voice Settings page.
Under the “Account” section, locate your Google Voice number.
Click “Unlock” and confirm the unlock process. A $3 fee may apply.
2. Prepare necessary information:
Account number: Your 10-digit Google Voice number.
PIN: Your Google Voice voicemail PIN. (If you haven’t set one or have forgotten it, you can reset it in the Google Voice settings.)
Proof of ownership: A monthly bill or a screenshot of your Google Voice account showing both your name and phone number.
3. Initiate the porting process with M1:
Contact M1 support: Open a chat within the M1 app and send the message, “I’d like to port my Google Voice number.”
Provide the required information:
Your unlocked Google Voice number
Your voicemail PIN
Your proof of ownership for the number.
4. Processing time:
The porting process can take up to two weeks, but in most cases, it is completed within one week.
During this time, your Google Voice number will continue to work until the port is complete.
ℹ️ Important considerations:
Service continuity: There should be no disruption in service during the porting process.
Post-porting: Once the porting is complete, your Google Voice number will function as your M1 number, and the original M1-assigned number will be replaced.
⚠️ M1 currently does not support receiving two-factor authentication (2FA) messages, such as codes sent by banks or online services. If 2FA is essential to your use case, we recommend keeping your current provider and using Call Forwarding instead.
