What is call forwarding?

Call forwarding is a standard feature offered by most phone carriers. It lets you redirect incoming calls from your primary line to another - in this case, from your regular number to your M1 number.

This way, your contacts or leads can keep calling the number they already know (such as the one listed on your website or business cards), and their calls will be seamlessly routed to the M1 app.

Even if the M1 app isn't open, your forwarded calls will still be picked up by M1, enabling features like our AI Receptionist, transcripts, and call summaries. This lets you benefit from everything M1 offers without needing to share a new number.

⚠️ Having Issues? Contact your carrier

While you can initiate this setup from the M1 app, the actual call forwarding functionality is controlled by your mobile carrier - not M1. If you're experiencing issues enabling or disabling call forwarding, or if it doesn't seem to be working as expected, we recommend reaching out directly to your carrier's support team for assistance.

ℹ️ You can disable call forwarding anytime if you want calls to ring directly on your iPhone again.

How to enable or disable it?

Using the M1 app (Recommended) 📲

The easiest way to enable or disable call forwarding is directly through the M1 app:

To enable call forwarding ✅

  1. Open the M1 app and go to the Settings tab.

  2. Scroll to the M1 Number section.

  3. Under Incoming Calls, tap Set up Call Forwarding.

  4. Select your mobile provider from the list:

    • Verizon Wireless

    • T-Mobile

    • AT&T

    • Spectrum Mobile

    • Google Voice

    • Other

  5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete setup.

To disable call forwarding ❌

Follow the same steps above and turn off the call forwarding option for your provider.

⚠️ Important: Disable call forwarding if you're deleting M1

If you're deleting the M1 app or canceling your subscription, make sure to disable call forwarding first

If it stays on, calls to your primary number may keep forwarding to M1 - even if the app is no longer installed.

Call forwarding is managed entirely by your mobile carrier - not by M1. Our team is not able to enable or disable it on your behalf. If you need assistance, you'll need contacting your carrier directly.

Using iPhone Settings (alternative method) ⚙️

Enable ✅

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

  2. Scroll down and tap Phone.

  3. Tap Call Forwarding.

  4. Toggle it ON and enter your 10-digit M1 number.

  5. Tap the back arrow to save.

Disable ❌

  1. Follow the same steps above and toggle Call Forwarding to OFF.

ℹ️ If the Call Forwarding option is missing from your iPhone settings, try the carrier-specific codes below ⬇️

Using carrier-specific codes 📞

If you don't see the Call Forwarding toggle in your iPhone settings, you can enable or disable it by dialing a code.

Enable

  • For T-Mobile or AT&T:

    • Open the Phone app.

    • Dial **21* followed by your 10-digit M1 number and #, then press Call.

    • Example: *21*1234567890#

  • For Verizon / Sprint / US Cellular / Boost / Cricket Wireless

    • Open the Phone app.

    • Dial *72 followed by your 10-digit M1 number, then press Call.

    • Example: *72 1234567890

Disable

  • For T-Mobile:

    • Open the Phone app.

    • Dial ##21#, then press Call.

  • For AT&T:

    • Open the Phone app.

  • For Sprint / US Cellular / Boost / Cricket Wireless

    • Open the Phone app.

    • Dial *720, then press Call.

*Replace 1234567890 with your M1 number.

ℹ️ Make sure to dial these codes from your iPhone's native dial pad, not from the M1 app.

Additional Carriers:

Google Fi

Enable

  • Open the Google Fi app or go to the Google Fi website.

  • Navigate to Settings.

  • Select Call Forwarding and enter your M1 number.

Disable ❌

  • Remove or disable the forwarding number in the Call Forwarding settings.

Google Voice:

If you've previously tried forwarding your Google Voice number to M1, we recommend disabling it - since M1 does not officially support call forwarding from Google Voice at this time. Leaving it enabled can cause call delivery issues.

Disable ❌

  1. Visit voice.google.com and sign in to your Google account.

  2. In the top-right corner, click the ⚙️ Settings icon.

  3. In the Calls menu, scroll to the Linked numbers section.

  4. Find your M1 number and click Remove.

⚠️ Important Considerations

  • Verification: Always double-check that the forwarding number is correct to avoid missed or misdirected calls.

  • Carrier restrictions: Some carriers may require extra steps - reach out to your carrier's support team if things don't work as expected.

  • Support limits: M1's Support team can't manage or disable call forwarding for you - this must be done from your device or with your carrier's help.
