The Voice Memo Island is M1’s built-in voice recorder designed for in-person meetings, voice notes, or any spoken notes you want to capture outside of phone calls. With just a tap, you can start recording, and M1 will handle everything from high-accuracy transcription to generating an AI-powered summary with key points and action items.
Why use the Voice Memo Island?

On the main screen, locate the red floating button labeled Voice Memo Island (it may appear as a red dot)

A timer will appear to indicate the recording is active
When finished, tap the red button again to stop
Once the recording ends, M1 will automatically transcribe and summarize the memo for you.

All your voice memos and in-person meeting summaries are saved under the “Memos” tab at the top of your M1 inbox.
Can I share my voice memos?
Yes! You can share transcripts and summaries via:
Secure link
Email
(Soon) Slack and other integrations
This makes it easy to keep teammates or collaborators aligned—even if they couldn’t attend the meeting.
What if I forget to record at the beginning of a meeting?
No worries. Start recording as soon as you remember—M1 will begin from that point and still provide a transcript and summary of what was captured.
Can I disable the floating button?
Yes. If the floating Voice Memo Island button is distracting, you can remove it:
Go to the Settings tab in the M1 app
Scroll down to the "Customize" section
Toggle off Voice Memo Island
